Nicki Minaj grew up in New York, which gives her some serious street credibility, but she was born in Saint James, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.  This might be why her sound is so unique.  Born in December, Minaj, is a fiery Sagittarius and she has set the music scene on fire!  Prior to her chart-topping album Pink Friday, Minaj had several mix tapes that really are worth mentioning.  Her style has definitely developed just like her physical assets!  Minaj has been inspired and influenced by many artists in the music business including: Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliot, Foxy Brown, Jadakiss, and even Natasha Bedingfield!  However, who could forget her number #1 Lil Wayne?  He graced her with opportunity to sign with Young Money Entertainment and then later, Cash Money Records to produce her new and current album that broke records across the country!

Lil Wayne may have discovered Minaj, but her sexual image and outlandish personality will make her a timeless icon.  Minaj credits her interesting music vibe to her wild past growing up in a broken home.  Her father was a drug addict and alcoholic who tried to kill her mother by setting their house on fire.  With all this turmoil Minaj created “alter egos” to escape the instability in her life.  Later this segued into her music, thus creating a unique sound.

Minaj is more than a pretty face and a superb booty! Her style, creativity, success, and character reflect her ideas concerning sex appeal.  She wants to create a strong image for young girls by toning down the sexiness. In Interview magazine, Minaj commented on her sexual image “I made a conscious decision to try to tone down the sexiness, I want people—especially young girls—to know that in life, nothing is going to be based on sex appeal. You’ve got to have something else to go with that.”  Well, we are not sure if Minaj has toned down the sexiness, how can you with a booty like that??? Nice try Nicki!
